School Closure - Friday 18 December

You may have seen the recent Government announcement that schools will have an additional closure day on Friday 18 December. The Government have made this decision because staff may need to continue to work in the first week of the Christmas holidays to support track and trace.
I can confirm that Welling School will be closed to students on this day and our last day will be Thursday 17 December. We apologise for the late notice but we have only just been informed by the Government. On Thursday 17 December school will finish at normal time with students leaving between 2.55pm and 3.15pm.
If your child develops symptoms and is tested positive for COVID-19 over the Christmas holidays, the Government have issued clear guidance about when you should inform the school and when this can be managed by NHS Test & Trace.
When you should contact the school:
If your child has symptoms either on Friday 18 December or Saturday 19 December and then tests positive for COVID-19 on or before Wednesday 23 December, please contact the school on enquiries@wellingschool-tkat.org.
When you make contact please be sure to include your child’s name, year group, names of friendship group, when they first developed symptoms and the date you received confirmation of the positive test.
When you should not contact the school:
If your child has developed symptoms after Saturday 19 December or more than 48 hours after they were last in school. In this instance, please contact NHS Test & Trace on https://contact-tracing.phe.gov.uk. If your child has a positive test result which returns after Wednesday 23 December. In this instance, please contact NHS Test & Trace.
Please can I take this opportunity to thank once more all parent/carers for their support during what has been a difficult term and wish you a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. A reminder that students return to school on Tuesday 5 January 2021. Please make sure that your child is well enough to do so. If your child is showing any COVID-19 symptoms please do not send them in on Tuesday 5 January. Instead, please inform the school of your child’s absence and make sure they have a COVID-19 test and that you are in receipt of a negative test result before sending them back into school.
With very best wishes
Yours faithfully
Mr R Pett
