Welling School Sixth Form Results - Summer 2025

Welling School Sixth Form Results - Summer 2025

We are delighted to be able to share our students’ achievements after receiving the first set of results for this year’s examination series. The Sixth Form curriculum at Welling School offers a number of pathways beyond the traditional route meaning our students have a truly bespoke curriculum to maximise their achievement. We are extremely proud of an overall pass rate of 97% in Academic A-Level qualifications and 100% in all Technical courses. These figures mark a significant
increase in attainment.

Initial figures also indicate excellent achievements across all courses. The average level of attainment has significantly improved compared to last year’s results. This has been driven by 100% pass rates in nearly all A Level subject areas. Of note, is the 100% A-C grades achieved in English Language which is an excellent achievement.

The overall A-C pass rate has risen to 57%, from 49% last year, across all subjects. There were also significant improvements across individual subject areas with over 70% of pupils achieving A-C grades in English Language, English Literature and History. Over 50% of pupils achieved A-C grades in Business Studies, Maths and Psychology. In our Vocational and Technical curriculum routes there are pleasing average grades of a Merit+ across all subjects. Subject highlights included Financial Studies where 20% of all pupils achieved a Grade A and 55% Grades A-B. Additionally, over 80% of pupils achieved A-C Grades in Health & Social Care and Music Technology.

Pupils continue to make excellent progress in Welling 6th form from their starting points at the end of year 11. The following subjects of Biology, Business Studies, Child Care, English Language, Financial studies, Health and Social Care, History and Mathematics all recorded excellent value added progress scores improving significantly compared to last year’s outcomes.

Welling School is driven to ensure that all students go on to the university or career of their choice and at the time of going to press all students, completing their Sixth Form studies with us, this summer, have achieved the grades they need to take up their university, apprenticeship or job offers. Some of the destinations students are moving onto include Universities such as Greenwich, Royal Holloway Canterbury, Ravensbourne and Reading . There are also Russell Group places at King's College London, Leeds, Exeter, York, Warwick and Queen Mary’s. Students are also moving on to start careers and apprenticeships in a range of different sectors including, education, business, finance and accounting.

Headteacher Brian Griffen said ‘I am very proud of all the work and commitment that both staff and students have shown to achieve such a great set of results. There is a real drive to improve 6th form outcomes and this set of results demonstrate what is possible when excellent 6th form teaching is matched with very high expectations of attendance and a rich personal development programme. My thanks go to the staff, students and their families. We wish the Year 13 cohort the very best for their future endeavours.
