TKAT Writing Competition

It's been an exciting time at TKAT as we recently launched our first Trust-wide creative writing competition for all KS3 students across all of our secondary schools at the beginning of the Spring term.

With the help of one of our partners, Renaissance, we were able to assemble a fantastic judging panel of award-winning writers including Sunday Times best-selling author of the 'Jamie Johnson' football series, Dan Freedman, Piers Torday, author of 'The Last Wild' and 'Midnight Treasure', Andy Briggs, author of 'The Drone Racer' along with Renaissance guru, Frances Kingston to complete our all-star line-up.

We were blown away by the response from students receiving over 400 entries across seven different secondary schools with our panel of judges keen to stress just how impressed they were with the standard of writing and levels of creativity across all of the entries and age groups.

After the 400 were whittled down to a final 12, we sent them off to the judging panel and are now delighted to announce the three winning entries:

  • 1st prize (£50 Amazon voucher): Shanila Martin Lewis (Hylands School)
  • 2nd prize (£30 Amazon voucher): Dolapo Sokoya (Welling School)
  • 3rd prize (£20 Amazon voucher): Arabella Slaughter (Rainham Girls)

A huge congratulations goes out to all of these students along with everyone who entered and of course our aforementioned panel who were so generous with their time and feedback.

We're already looking ahead to next year to see how we can improve the competition and get even more entries whilst plans for the next trust-wide event to be announced soon...watch this space!
