APPLIED LAW EXTENDED CERTIFICATE

The BTEC Level 3 in Applied Law qualification is designed to provide a highly specialist, work-centred qualification in Law. It will give you the knowledge, understanding and skills that you need to prepare for employment. While Law is a profession in itself, knowledge of law is highly useful in the employment market and applicable to many businesses and industries.

On successful completion of the BTEC qualification students can progress into employment or to continue their study in the area of Law.

 

Specific GCSE Requirements: 1) 1) English Language GCSE, grade 4 or above. 2) Maths GCSE, grade 4 or above. 

 

APPLIED SCIENCE EXTENDED CERTIFICATE 

This Applied Science course allows students to gain a Level 3 qualification equivalent in size to an A Level. This comprises 4 units, two pieces of coursework, one externally set assessment and one examination. Activities for the coursework elements take the form of research based assignments, oral presentations, practical investigations and class visits to a scientific lab. 

This level 3 course offers the same UCAS points as any A-Level course, with a distinction grade earning 120 UCAS points, the equivalent of an A grade. Current students are moving onto courses such as physiotherapy, animal welfare, midwifery and computer science. 

 

Specific GCSE Requirements: 1) 5 GCSE at grade 4 or above, including at least a grade 4 in GCSE Core Science. 

 

BUSINESS STUDIES EXTENDED CERTIFICATE 

This qualification will provide learners with the opportunity through applied learning to develop the core specialist knowledge, skills and understanding required in the business sector. Learners must achieve a total of 5 units consisting of 3 mandatory units and 2 optional units. 2 units are externally assessed by exams while the rest are internally assessed. 

This qualification allows you to gain a Level 3 qualification to support further study in Further Education (FE) or Higher Education (HE) in business-related programmes and in any other sector or subject area 

 

Specific GCSE Requirements: 1) English Language GCSE, grade 4 or above. 2) Maths GCSE, grade 4 or above. 3) An active interest in topics relating to Business and current affairs 

 

CHILDCARE EXTENDED CERTIFICATE 

You will develop a detailed understanding of the development of children with practical experience in supporting children in different settings. You will learn the fundamental principles for supporting a child. Childcare allows you to be creative, use initiative and analyse the impact of procedures, legislation and protocols that are followed within settings. 

This is a useful course for those interested in progressing to higher education or working in early year’s practitioners working with young children such as nursing or becoming a teacher. 

 

Specific GCSE Requirements: 1) An active interest in an early years profession and working with babies and young children 2) At least a grade 4 in English 3) To be competent in IT which will allow you to complete coursework 

 

WJEC LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN CRIMINOLOGY

WJEC Level 3 Diploma in Criminology is a qualification with elements of Psychology, Law and Sociology that complements studies in humanities related subjects. The qualification would support learners’ progression from any study at Level 2, particularly GCSEs in Sociology, Law or Psychology. The course will go beyond the traditional academic study with guest speakers from agencies involved in services/practice that the Criminology course material covers.

 

Specific GCSE Requirements: 1) Grade 5 or above in English Language 

 

HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE EXTENDED CERTIFICATE 

This qualification will enable learners to progress to a degree programme chosen from a range of programmes in the health and social care sector. 

The course is delivered through a range of methods and is often led by students following research in particular areas, however students will need to develop their independent learning skills. 

You could progress directly into health, social care, early years work or move into higher education. This is a for those interested in health care, early years or practitioners such as nursing or becoming a teacher. 

 

Specific GCSE Requirements: 1) An active interest in a health care or early years profession and working with a range of individuals 2) At least a grade 4 in English 3) To be competent in IT which will allow you to complete coursework 

 

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCTORY DIPLOMA 

OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical in IT offers specialist pathways in IT Infrastructure Technician, Emerging Digital Technology Practitioner, Application Developer and Data Analyst. Students will gain an understanding of how to apply their practical skills and knowledge in preparation for further study or at workplace. It focuses on those skills, knowledge and understanding that today’s universities and employers demands. 

Achievement of this qualification would support your progression to go on and study relevant IT degrees in a Higher Education institution or go on to pursue careers in IT sector. 

 

Specific GCSE Requirements: 1) English Language GCSE, grade 4 or above. 2) IT GCSE, grade 5 or above. 3) Maths GCSE, grade 5 or above. 4) An active interest in topics relating to IT or Computer Science. 

MUSIC PERFORMANCE EXTENDED CERTIFICATE

Music Performance is the perfect qualification for you to gain knowledge of the music industry in preparation for further study or employment.You should already have experience of performing, including at school and in other venues. This course will take you to the next level where you will not only learn more about audience awareness and communication but will become an expert at all aspects of backroom preparation for gigs and concerts.

 

Specific GCSE Requirements 1) Evidence of a grade Pass or equivalent at GCSE 2) Competent in performing and experience of singing or playing an instrument 

 

MUSIC TECHNOLOGY EXTENDED CERTIFICATE

In this exciting and fast moving industry you will develop a detailed background knowledge with practical experience in different aspects of music production. You will learn techniques associated with the recording, composition and manipulation of sound and music. Music Technology combines creativity and current advances in computer music and digital recording to provide a comprehensive education for students with an interest in both. 

This course gives the opportunity to study Music Technology at higher education, or work within the music industry, creative industries and technology sector. This includes careers within broadcasting, studios and live sound. 

 

Specific GCSE Requirements: 1) Grade 4 or above in English 2) Competent in the use of IT skills and the use of specific music related software such as Logic Pro 

 

SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY  EXTENDED CERTIFICATE 

The Cambridge Technicals in Sport and Physical Activity has been developed to meet the changing needs of the sector, and prepare students for the challenges they’ll face in university or employment. The Cambridge Technicals in Sport and Physical Activity focus on the knowledge, understanding and skills that today’s universities and employers demand. Students will practically apply their knowledge and skills in preparation for further study or the workplace. 

Progress to Higher Education in sport related courses including sport science and sport coaching or access employment in the sport and leisure industry including coaching, fitness instruction and leisure management. 

 

Specific GCSE Requirements: 1) 5 grades 9-4, including a minimum of a grade 4 in English. 2) 5 grades 9-4, including a minimum of a grade 4 in GCSE PE or an equivalent vocational qualification of a Merit in Sports Science.
