Application Process

You should begin exploring the options that are available to you at Welling School Sixth Form. You should discuss your interest in subjects with your teachers and tutors. It is essential that you start to consider what requirements you need for your future university course or apprenticeship programme. Teachers from a variety of subject areas and the Sixth Form team are also on hand to give advice about recommended course combinations that will ensure you are best placed to achieve your chosen progression route, be it university, further education or employment with training.

Once you know that you want to apply to Welling School Sixth Form, you will need to complete an application form. The current courses available are listed in the ‘curriculum’ tab. We will meet with applicants in the Spring Term where we will discuss your course options.

You are required to select a minimum of three options. All subjects are placed in curriculum blocks, and we will always endeavour to ensure that the blocks are structured to maximise best fit for the preferences of all students in the Sixth Form each academic year. It is important that you look at the entry requirements for each subject. Acceptance onto the intended Post-16 pathway will be dependent on subject specific entry requirements. You are encouraged to speak with your subject teachers throughout the process in order to get a greater understanding about the course content.

Applications for 6th Form can be made electronically by accessing the link below. The closing date for applications has been extended to 29th January 2021. Following the submission of your application we will then meet with you and ensure you are on the right pathway of courses suited to your current performance and intended destination.

Following your meeting(s) you will receive notification of the outcome of your application. The offer of a conditional place in the Sixth Form and/ or on specific courses will be provisional until GCSE results are published in August 2021. In June 2021, after all GCSE examinations are undertaken, all prospective Sixth Form students will be expected to join us for an induction. This will be a vital and compulsory part of your successful transition.

Results Day

Once results are published in August, you will receive a confirmation letter of your place in the Sixth Form or be invited to join us to discuss possible alternative courses on the day of collection if you have failed to meet the entry requirements for your chosen courses.

Please note

• No course can be confirmed until we know the intended take-up numbers.

• Places at Welling School are unable to be confirmed until September 2021.

• Home school students will always get priority followed by consortium students.

• Course criteria may change depending on the interest in the course.
