Year 10 Parents' Consultation Evening - Update

Please enter an introduction for your news story here.
I hope this letter finds you well. Due to the current social distancing restrictions in place, we unfortunately cannot hold a parents’ consultation evening in the usual way. However, we understand the importance of keeping you informed about the well-being and engagement of students in school as well as their academic progress. We will be sharing a written academic report with you early in the spring term but would like to provide you with the opportunity to speak with teachers this side of the Christmas break. To facilitate this we will be making contact with you via telephone calls in the week Monday 7 December - Friday 11 December.
To give you as much detail as we can at this time we have asked each subject teacher to phone you. We will attempt to keep the conversations to 5 minutes maximum to provide succinct feedback whilst appreciating that you will receive a number of calls from subject teachers. We understand that in some circumstances you may find this unacceptably disruptive. If you would prefer not to be contacted in this way, or have a preference for calls to be limited between particular times of the day, please email Ms Nosa-Oviasu (Head of Year 10 - email below) and she will communicate this to all staff.
I would like to draw you attention to the following topics of discussion that will be covered during the phone call: students’ well-being and engagement in a lesson, behaviour record (rewards and sanctions) as well as students’ participation in home-learning using the school’s online platforms during periods of self-isolation. You will also be able to raise any questions you may have concerning particular subjects studied. I would ask you to be mindful of the fact that we have been unable to monitor students’ work in books as closely as usual due to limitations placed by Covid restrictions on marking and taking books home, although all Year 10 students will have received written feedback from their teachers this term.
I would like to thank you for your continued support during these challenging times. Please continue to contact the relevant Heads of faculty, teachers and Year 10 Care and Guidance staff via telephone or email should you have any further queries.
Yours Faithfully,
Mr C Gibbons Ms J Sangster
DIRECTOR OF LEARNING DEPUTY HEADTEACHER
