Key Stage 3 Assessments from Monday 2 June
I hope that you and your families are well and I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your patience and support for your child to complete their work on our online Study Hub. During these unprecedented and challenging times, we are continuously adapting how we work, in order to support your child to work independently and to engage in their education. Therefore, all Key Stage 3 students will be asked to complete an assessment as part of the next phase of our home learning provision.
From the week beginning 29th June, students will have one assessment for each of the subjects that they’re studying and these assessments will contain a series of questions that assess the knowledge gained from the work that has been set during the last three months but also content from earlier in the academic year. In that week, they should access the Study Hub and they will be given instructions of how to access, complete and submit their assessments. Students will be scheduled two assessments to complete per day. Teachers will provide feedback and return assessments to students via Google Classroom following their completion.
The purpose of these assessments is to emphasise to students the importance of the independent work that they have been completing since the start of the partial closure and to make them aware of where they are and where their own knowledge gaps exist. The feedback from the assessments will also help the teachers to address any misconceptions that students have in each subject, by providing individual feedback to each student. If you have previously received school work through the post, then you will also receive the assessment in the same format. The assessment can then be posted back to the school or dropped off in reception, but please remember to put the child’s name and teacher’s name on each assessment so that they can be returned to their teachers.
Kind regards,
Mr R Pett
