A-Level Results Day 2022 Press Release

Welling School Sixth Form Results 2022

We are delighted to be able to share our students’ achievements after receiving the first set of results for this year’s examination series.

The Sixth Form curriculum at Welling School offers a number of pathways beyond the traditional A Level route and we are extremely proud of a 98% pass rate in the technical and applied vocational courses. This figure marks a significant increase in achievement.

Initial figures also indicate excellent achievements in the A Level courses with 100% pass rates in Chemistry, English Language, English Literature, Fine Art, French, Geography, Graphic Art, History, Italian, Photography and Spanish.

Welling School is driven to ensure that all students go on to the university or career of their choice and at the time of going to press all students, completing their sixth form studies with us, this summer, have achieved the grades they need to take up their university, apprenticeship or job offers. Some of the destinations students are moving on to include University in Warwick, Southampton, Greenwich, Manchester, Kent, Nottingham and Aberystwyth. Students are also moving on to start careers and apprenticeships in the Military Police, Music Production and Technology, Midwifery, Chemical and Civil Engineering, Accounting and Finance.

The disruption caused by the pandemic makes this year’s results even more impressive. Not only because students have had to work hard in very difficult circumstances but also because they went into the exam season with absolutely no prior experience of formal examinations as they never had to sit GCSE papers.

As well as key individual successes the overall grades indicate that 45% are A*, A,  B and C grades. This includes the achievement of those studying applied and technical qualifications where 88% of grades were Distinction*, Distinction or Merit and the average grading a Distinction. Students performed strongly in Spanish with 67% of grades A-B and 46% of Business Studies grades were awarded a Distinction*. This is a highly commendable achievement.

Amongst other outstanding results the school congratulates the following students whose portfolio of achievement includes:

  • Jessie Roseman who achieved  AAB
  • Liberty Brownlow BBB
  • Benjamin Kadoo achieved Distinction*, Distinction and an A
  • Louis Craig achieved 2x Distinction* and B grades each
  • Morgan Brace Distinction*, Distinction and Merit grades
  • Freddie Lilley Distinction, A and B
  • Adam Wiltshire 2 x Distinction

Executive Headteacher Daniel Hatley said ‘I am extremely proud of what our brilliant students have achieved. Their success is well deserved and I am so pleased that so many of them will be moving on to the university or career of their choice and that their time at Welling has helped them to secure such bright futures. This year’s outcomes are also testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff and the support of students’ families. We are extremely pleased for them all and look forward to hearing about their continued successes as they leave us to start the next stage of their lives’.
