Year 10 Parents Consultation Evening - Update

Further to the letter you will have received last week about the Covid prevention precautions we are putting in place this week, we have had to make the difficult decision to move the Year 10 parents evening online. We are really disappointed not to be able to welcome you to the school. As I am sure you will understand we want to reduce the risk of impacting staff being able to attend school up until the end of term so that we do not unnecessarily impact students on-site education.
If you have already made an appointment with your child’s teacher at the time of your appointment your child will need to go to their Google classroom for that subject and click on the google meet link that the teacher will post as an announcement. This will open the Google Meet link and the teacher will admit you when they have finished the previous appointment. Please be aware that this may take a few minutes if appointments over-run. The time of the appointment will remain at the time you had originally scheduled for the face to face meeting, but if you would prefer a phone call instead of an online meet then please email the member of staff.
If you have not yet had an opportunity to make an appointment but would like to, then please log onto Bromcom using the parent MCAS (My Child at School) account. Once you have logged into your dashboard, the Parents Evening link can be found on the menu on the left hand side of the screen. The link will take you to another screen where you can book 5 minute appointment slots with each of your child's main class teachers. A record of your appointment will be stored on your MCAS app and then your child’s teacher will send you a link for the Google meet. You will be able to book appointments until the day of the Year 10 Consultation evening on Thursday 24th March.
It is essential that all parents/carers attend this event as it provides an opportunity to meet with your child’s subject teachers, to discuss their progress in their GCSE courses and to enable you to find out about how they can further improve between now and the examinations in 2023. This is your opportunity to find out about how your child is currently performing and importantly, how you can best support them. Staff will be available between 3.30pm and 6.30pm.
In preparation for your discussions with teachers, you should already have a login for MCAS and be able to access the progress reports. If you are unable to access the reports a hard copy will given to students on Wednesday morning. If you need support then please contact the school on bromcom@wellingschool-tkat.org
Yours faithfully,
Mr J Sanghera
