Homework Expectations

I am writing to you with an overview of when and how homework will be set. At Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students will have a set amount of homework each week. In order to help students plan their time we have included a timetable for when homework in different subjects should be completed. The expectation at Key Stage 3 is that students will spend 30 minutes on homework each day. At Key Stage 4 the expectation is that students will spend 45 minutes on homework each day.

At Key Stage 5 students will receive 5 hours of homework per subject each week. Your child’s teacher will discuss how best to complete the homework set.

Initially homework will be set via a combination of Google classroom and book based activities for Years 8-11 as long as they have remained in the same classrooms as last year. Year 7 will be given book and paper based activities. Your child’s email address will be the last two numbers of the year they joined the school, first initial of their forename, followed by surname @stumail.wellingschool-tkat.org. For example if your child is in year 11 it would be 16asmith@stumail.wellingschool-tkat.org.

Over the summer the school moved to a new data management system called Bromcom. This has been a significant piece of work for the school and we are still in the process of setting up the parental app. We are also still working on the integration of Google Classroom with Bromcom. We expect both of these pieces of work to be completed by next week and will confirm with parent/carers. In the meantime, those students who do not have Google classroom access will complete homework in books and/or paper. Once the integration has occurred all homework will be set via Google classroom.

If your child has issues logging into their Google Mail account, please contact google@wellingschool-tkat.org.

If your email address is not currently up to date, please go to the enquiry section of the school website or email office@wellingschool-tkat.org to update.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs P Higgins
