End of Year 11 Arrangements

As the current academic year draws to a close, I know that the thoughts of parent/carers and students will be concerned with the end of year arrangements. The information below is accurate at the time of writing this letter but may be subject to change linked to the government's roadmap.
I am writing to inform you that the last day for the vast majority of students will be in the week commencing Monday 24 May. Students finishing this week will have provided the evidence required for teachers to award them their teacher assessed grade. Some students will be invited back the week commencing Monday 7 June if a subject teacher requires further evidence from them. This is a crucial time of the year and we are doing all we can to support your son/daughter to ensure they complete Year 11 in the best possible position to transition to the next stage of education.
Whilst the vast majority of students will not be in school after half term, the school will be providing an online learning package that will support students returning to Welling School 6th Form or other 6th Forms and those going to College. More information will be shared regarding this.
Year 11 Leavers' Assembly
In line with the current national roadmap we are not able to run a physical Year 11 Leavers’ Assembly. We are going to wait for guidance that will accompany the next step of the national roadmap from Monday 21 June onwards. If we are able to run an assembly we would love the opportunity for staff and students to celebrate the achievements of this cohort. If this is not possible we will look at running a virtual event.
Unfortunately due to the current circumstances we will also not be able to hold a Year 11 Prom this year
GCSE Results Day
GCSE Results’ Day will take place on Thursday 12 August 2021. Similar to last year, exam results will be emailed by the exam’s officer to each students’ school email address. The results will be emailed from 8am in line with the exam results process given to schools by Ofqual. A hard copy of the results will be posted the same day. If you have any queries relating to the results your son/daughter receives please email the exam’s officer and/or Mr Sanghera using the email addresses below:
- Mr Sanghera: jasminder.sanghera@wellingschool-tkat.org
- Ms Eden: jacqueline.eden@wellingschool-tkat.org
- Ms Chapman: kerry.chapman@wellingschool-tkat.org
I understand that this is an unusual way to draw to a close the five-year journey students have been on at Welling School. However, we will endeavour to ensure that students are valued and celebrated for their achievements, resilience and hard work throughout Year 10 and 11. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you, the parents and carers, for your continued support.
Yours faithfully,
Ms J Sangster
