School meals / menus

School Dinners
At Welling School, we aim to help students establish a healthy lifestyle that, we hope, will continue into adulthood, via a combination of education through the curriculum and quality of food available on the menu during the school day. We believe that a healthy diet is essential in ensuring that students perform to their full potential during the school day, both academically and physically.

Food
Education food specialists, Chartwells, provide catering at Welling School. They share our commitment to healthy eating with their “Eat, Learn, Live” programme that is central to their delivery. Meals are prepared on the premises using fresh ingredients.

Lunch options include:

  • hot and cold main dishes (meat / fish / vegetarian)
  • a salad bar
  • a selection of sandwiches, rolls and wraps
  • jacket potato with option of fillings
  • hot and cold puddings
  • fresh fruit

In common with all local schools, we operate a cashless vending system. Students are allocated their own unique vending account, which can be accessed via biometric scan (thumb print) or personal PIN.

Vending accounts can be credited in 2 ways.

The most efficient method is to set up an account with www.parentpay.com. The School will issue activation codes to parents / carers of new students to set up the account. Once established, parents / carers can credit vending accounts on-line using debit and credit cards. Taking “dinner money” to school can become a thing of the past.

There is a facility for those wishing to still use cash, with two receiving units located opposite the canteen entrance that accept notes and coins. This method can be used alongside a www.parentpay.com account.

Any amount of money can be paid into a student’s account, and any money spent on food and drink will be deducted on a daily basis.  A daily ‘spend limit’ of £5 will be programmed into the system.  This can be increased or decreased for an individual student by parents / carers making a written request.

For all payment matters email: enquiries@wellingschool-tkat.org

Free School Meals

To check your eligibility for free school meals, use the link to Bexley Borough or London Grid for Learning or email Bexley.freeschoolmeals@secure.capita.co.uk

We would encourage all parents / carers to apply if they are in any doubt.

Students in receipt of Free School Meals cannot be identified by other pupils because all students use our cashless system to pay for school meals in the canteen.
